Sapsucker Carvings

 

I love finding nature's curiosities. Look at this sliver of intricately shaped bark I found beside the path ...

I was really curious about what made this or how it was formed, and all we've come up with so far is that is was possibly two rows of sapsuckers holes, and the piece of bark in between has fallen off intact, leaving this lovely residual, jigsaw puzzle shape.

Anyone else have any better suggestions?
