I'm reeling in shock and disbelief. After days of searching, calling hotels, and undoing all my unpacking over and over again back in February, I recently found my lost retainer whilst packing for my current overseas trip. I was looking for a money purse in a drawer I seldom use. How on earth did it get in there??? This is a drawer SO infrequently used that I didn't feel the need to even look through it whilst searching for my lost retainer. We had joked that once I'd ordered the new set, (with multiple extras), that I'd find the old one, but I wasn't expecting it to take another 2.5 months!
When I saw it in the drawer, I closed it again quickly, in shock, wishing it away! So dramatic! When it went missing, I convinced myself that I, the consummate puritan of recycling, must have tossed my reusable container into the trash at the hotel in a fit of ruthlessness. But we all know that couldn't be true ... and it wasn't!
But what would have led me to search for it in such a wayward drawer, and how did it get there? Okay I'm being obsessive, but all I can think of is that the drawer was standing open when I was unpacking items from my travels and it fell in without my knowledge. Or, maybe I can blame the squirrels?
