I looked closely at the tightly curled flower buds of this threadleaf coreopsis in the morning, and was fascinated by how closed they still were. Their presentation reminded me of a person holding their fingers down closed over their palm, so took a picture.
By the end of the day, some were completely freed from their shyness, and had opened up to expose their sun colored petals.
These happy wildflowers are also known as tickseed, apparently since the seeds look like ticks.
