A Tempest

Tempestuous winds (gusting between 23 and 50 mph) and currents on the last day of February played havoc with the little ice we had left in our lake. Chunks broke off and collided with each other, causing even more shattering break ups. These constant collisions change the ice landscape pretty quickly.

Describing the process inspired a haiku (what's new?)

Constant collisions

Driven by choppy currents -

Ice chunks become crumbs.
