My recent sense of foreboding that the lake was icing over for winter has vaporized - the lake is back to fluidity. I think the ducks got prior warning - they've actively been having a (splashing) blast.
This is the reverse tease of spring - perhaps threat is the word I'm looking for! Spring teases, fall threatens ...
