What a striking native caterpillar I encountered among the blades of grass in my lawn:
But, beware, this beauty has venom glands at the base of the 4 showy hairy tussocks on its back.
It matures into a very drab-looking moth, the Definite Tussock Moth (
Orgyia definita).
