Blue Berries

These are the fruits of Virginia creeper, a hardy native. They put on quite a vivid display at this time of year. I look forward to the bird visitors that will soon partake of this feast on the edge of my deck.

They do look a lot like blueberries, but they don't taste great. They contain oxalic acid which may irritate the kidneys, so leave them for the birds and rodents!
