Mystery Eggs

I reached for a pondweed leaf to show my new plant patrollers, and felt a jelly-like blob underneath, on a leaf that was not usually coated with slime. This jelly was only on one part of the leaf, so I turned it over and found what looks like an egg mass.

You can barely see the little dots within it, so I tried a different angle, and was able to view it better this way

In the end, I took more than 32 photos of the egg mass in an attempt to get a clear and definitive picture for identification purposes.

But I'm still not clear whose eggs they are - the closest thing I can find suggest possibly a dragonfly, but I feel as if I'm clutching at straws.
