I have a regular group of 5 enthusiastic paddlers who put aside one morning each week during the 'open water' season on the lake to learn about aquatic plants and survey for invasive aquatics. We've been working together as a team for a year, calling ourselves Patrollers of Arrowhead's Littoral Zone - PALZ.
I made a sticker, using a pondweed photo, for us to display on our kayaks. Next time, it will be an Arrowhead leaf since that is way more apropos.
One of my PALZ has used invasive Variable Leaf Milfoil to create paper, and has more recently used it in a piece of Performance Art at the Maine School of Art and Design. I was privileged to be there for her shoot
