Magnificent Marigolds

What a cheery sight greets me from the water as I return to my shore - my magnificent marsh marigolds, Caltha palustris. Despite its common name, it's not related to marigolds, but instead to buttercups.


Pollinators love this showy native, too! There are so many intricate crevices and textures for them to explore.

After our spring deluge over the weekend, my marsh marigolds became submarine marigolds for a few days. They were completely submerged, at the blue X below:
