Look at how gorgeous the (native) bunchberry fruit is against the exquisite green leaves. It is, as you can see from the distinctive venation, in the dogwood family.
This low growing one is known as the creeping dogwood,
Cornus canadensis, and makes a fantastic, low-maintenance groundcover. They look so cheery along the shoreline as I survey. One of my favorite natives.
