Crane Fly

A large crane fly on a coneflower leaf. They are found worldwide, and are harmless to humans - they do not bite. Adults such as this one have a short life span of about 2 weeks only, during which time they mate and feed on nectar. 


Plus, they make great food for insectivorous birds and bats!
 And they're great acrobats too:
