Spotted jewelweed is a very attractive bloom - the colors can be quite intense! These two flowers are at different stages of development

The flowers hang suspended from a very ethereal looking pedicel, so they bob and sway a lot. Hummingbirds love them too!

Many Native American tribes used its' sap, which contains the compound saponin (glycosides occurring naturally in the plant) to treat poison ivy rashes. Very cool.
