Pipsissewa

I love the common name for these plants! According to Wikipedia, it's a Cree Indian word which apparently means: "It-breaks-into-small-pieces."

I absolutely love the flowers, too. They are exquisite and delicate, and so demure about their good looks. They grow in the shade of the understory, so are easily missed, especially since their pretty parts face downwards to the ground.



These little cuties are part of the wintergreen family.
