Ooh, one of the advantages of creating a blanket in winter is that the quicker you work, the warmer you'll be as you go along.
It is my "mission" not to buy new yarns, but to use discards and leftovers only. I pick up scraps from the transfer station or friends and neighbors' spring-cleaning to keep myself supplied. I like to try and make leftovers attractive, despite being discards.
It's a challenge, since colors are not available in similar abundance, nor a common ply, and there's no guarantee that the colors will match or blend, but ... this is what makes it interesting to me. I see a problem that I have to work around, and it becomes an opportunity to get creative. It piques my interest and stimulates me.
