What an unusual and striking presentation this beautiful moth has:
I've never seen one before, but happened upon it whilst looking to see if my crab spider's story had more to add. I was lucky enough to identify it using Google lens, probably because it's so distinctive - it's the pink-striped oakworm moth (
Anisota virginiensis).
It looks like a tiny, fluffy little chick with transparent wings attached. From what I've read, this one appears to be a male. It was there in the same spot, a few hours later.
